FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Hypnosis? And Is it real?
The state of hypnosis is a natural but altered state of mind and body consciousness, similar to daydreaming where your mind is focused and not distracted. This heightened, focused concentration combined with comic suggestions allows each volunteer to tap into their inner talents and imaginations… and entertain others!! It is very real indeed and it is even been used on patients instead of anaesthetic.
Is it dangerous at all?
No, The government home office reviewed the 1952 hypnotism act and concluded there are no more dangers in stage hypnosis then what they are in most other activities, Its also worth pointing out there are no known cases of hypnosis proven to hurt anyone mentally. Totally safe and is a natural occurring state.
Are people unconscious and completely out of it?
No. You are fully conscious, but you find that most of the other stimuli around you doesn’t distract or disturb you. Rather like being engrossed in a good book or film. When listening to a favourite piece of music, you mind tends to becomes imaginative and begins fantasie. It’s this mindset that the hypnotist uses comedy suggestions putting the hypnotized volunteers comical situations and hilarious scenarios.
Can anyone be hypnotised
Virtually everyone in the world can be hypnotised to a certain degree. Not everyone is able to relax deeply enough quickly enough to be of use to a stage hypnotist under bright lights and in front of an audience. In the course of a show, I always ask for more volunteers than required and then eliminate those that I can't work with.
Can a person do anything against their will whilst hypnotised?
No. A person in a state of hypnosis will not allow themselves to do anything they wouldn't do in a conscious state. In fact, your subconscious mind won't allow you to do or say anything you would normally feel is against your moral or ethical beliefs.
Can a person become "stuck" in a hypnotic state?
No. There are no known cases. The human mind’s protective sense of self simply won’t let either of those happen. In the unlikely event a hypnotist failed to return a hypnotized person to full conscious awareness the person would drift off to sleep and would soon wake up and out of the hypnosis.
What Does It Feel Like To Be Hypnotised?
Incredible. Everybody experiences it slightly differently although nearly everyones description has the same characteristics. It is incredibly relaxing and enjoyable. Some people say that it is like you are floating and that nothing matters anymore. A unique feature of the shows is that no two are alike because the participants are taken directly from the audience. The differences in personalities take the show in unpredictable directions every night. You see the show once, and you will feel compelled to see it again and again!
